Manipal Hospital Diagnostic Services gets accredited for ISO/IEC 7025:1999 by NABL
Bangalore, August 16, 2005: Manipal Hospital Diagnostics Services has been accredited in the field of clinical testing as per ISO/IEC 17025:1999 by National Accreditation Board for Testing & Calibration Laboratories (NABL). Announcing the same during a presentation ceremony today, Shri Giridhar Gyani, Secretary QCI, Government of India said, “***”. The scope of the accreditation as recommended by the assessment team states that Manipal Hospital Diagnostic Services provides clinical testing as an in-house laboratory of Manipal Hospital and as an independent laboratory open to outside walk-in patients. The accreditation has been sought in the areas of Clinical Biochemistry, Clinical Hematology, Clinical Pathology, Histopathology, Clinical Microbiology, Clinical Serology and Cytopathology. “Due to these quality initiatives we were able to maintain our prices over last three years, even when prices of procurement and consumables increased and dollar exchange rates went up. This is because we have been able to bring down the cost of poor quality”, said Mr. R. Basil, CEO - Manipal Health Systems. The scope to improve quality and simultaneously reduce costs remains one of the greatest opportunities in creating value. Explaining that the certification is an effort of continuous quality improvements over a period of nine months, Mr. Basil added, “NABL will also raise the performance of the hospital to conform to the standards expected by the patients and customers”. He emphasized on the aspect of improving quality by streamlining processes and thereby reducing costs to the consumer. |
