What are the different types of rooms available in your hospital and what are the charges? A. The rooms can be broadly categorised into 5 types : General, Semi Special, Special, Deluxe and Super Deluxe. Super Deluxe Two rooms (one for attender) with attached bathroom; multi channel cable television, refrigerator and telephone with local call facilities. Deluxe Two rooms (one for attender) with attached bathroom, multi channel cable television, and telephone with local call facilities.
Special A private room with attached bath, multi channel cable television, telephone with local call facility and a separate bed for the attender.
Semi Special A twin sharing room with an attached bath, couch for each patient's attender.
General ward Three to five patients in a cubicle; chair for each patient's relative and a bathroom in the wing.
Bed charges are calculated on a 24 hour basis from the time of admission. In case of discharge, a grace of 12 hours is provided. If patient is required to be transferred to the Intensive Care Units, the room / bed that the patient was occupying prior to the transfer is to be vacated. The patient's party can occupy the room too, provided they pay charges for the same simultaneously. Charges (subject to change)
For details of deposits, kindly refer to the Schedule of Charges. All patients are requested to sign a declaration of payment as per the hospital charges for admission. During your stay, if you have not received any intimation of amount accrued to your account, kindly contact the Billing Department.
Q. What is the procedure for reservation of: (a) Operation Theatre, (b) Bed? A. For Operation Theatre - Kindly get the date confirmed from the consultant for operation. For reserving a bed - Kindly decide your choice of room and contact Admission & Billing Department.
Q. What is a Day Care Centre? A. Day Care Centre caters to patients undergoing surgeries / procedures that do not require overnight stay in the hospital.
Q. What are the procedures done in a Day Care Centre? A. All minor, intermediate, major procedures e.g. Cardiac Catheterisation, Cataract with IOL etc. can be performed in Day Care Centre.
Q. Where is the Day Care centre located? A. The Day Care Centre is located on the 7th floor of the building, which is functional from 7:30 am to 7:30 pm. (except Sundays and Holidays).
Q. Do I have to pay any amount for confirming the operation? A. Yes, you have to pay the deposit according to the surgery charges.
Q. After booking for Operation Theatre, can I make a cancellation? A. Yes, kindly get the authorisation letter from your consultant / surgeon and then contact the Admission Counter.
Q. After cancellation of Operation Theatre, can we get the refund of the deposit paid? A. Yes, on producing the original receipts and the surgeon's authority letter, your deposit will be refunded.
Q. What is the actual mode of operation? A. You may bring the patient along with the Admission Slip (available at the concerned OPD) to the Admission and Billing Department. If you have any credit facility, kindly bring your letter of Authority from your company and contact our Corporate Relations Department. After fulfilling the formalities at the Admission Counter, you will be given an In Patient (IP) Number. Kindly quote the same for any enquiry. You shall be guided to the floor / room allotted.
Q. Are there any other financial formalities to be completed before surgery? A. Yes, kindly get a Surgery Clearance Card paid.
Q. After admission can the patient be transferred to Higher Class? A. Yes, but it is subject to availability of bed. All charges shall be billed for the higher class from the date of transfer.
Q. After Admission can the patient be transferred to lower class? A. Yes, subject to availability of bed and payment of all outstanding amounts.
Q. When do I have to pay the balance amount of deposit? A. Total amount of deposit is to be paid at the time of admission. Kindly refer to the schedule of charges. If you fail to pay the required amount at the time of admission, the same has to be paid within 24 hours.
Q. What is the mode of payment acceptable? A. Payments are accepted by Cash/Demand Draft (DD can be drawn in favour of Manipal Hospital)/Traveler's cheque/all types of Credit Cards only.
Q. Is my mediclaim policy accepted at your hospital? A. You are required to approach the company directly for reimbursement of your bill.
Q. Do you provide Ambulance Services? A. Yes, we do. Please contact Casualty Medical Officer at ext. 3250 which is open 24 hours.
Q. What are the visiting hours? A. The visiting hours for all Intensive Care Units except NICU is from 15:00-15:45 pm. NICU visiting hours is from 19:00-19:30 pm. Visiting hours for all other wards is from 16:00-19:00 hours everyday.
Q. How many passes do you issue? A. To control the crowd and noise level, you will appreciate that we issue only 2 passes (one for attender and one for visitors) in general ward and 3 passes (one for attender and two for visitors) in all other higher wards. In case of patient admitted in ICUs, only one pass is issued. The passes are to be surrendered at the Billing counter at the time of discharge.
Q. Can I bring food from my house? A. Food is complimentary for all admitted patients. The food charges will not be deducted from the main bill if you get food from home. If the patient orders for anything other than the set hospital menu, it will be charged extra. Food service is only for patients. One attendant will be provided food at an extra cost in the deluxe rooms of the hospital only
Q. What are the timings for discharges? A. Discharges are carried on through 24 hours a day.
Q. What is the procedure of final settlement? A. A provisional bill is given to the patients at first. If they are satisfied, they can come down to the Billing department, where the final bill is provided. The billing counter is functional for 24 hours.
Q. How do I get my discharge slip? A. After final settlement you will be given a discharge slip which has to be handed over to the floor staff.
Q. What is the procedure for refund? A. You have to produce the original receipts for any refund. Refund of an amount higher than Rs.10, 000/- is made by cheque, except special cases like outstation candidates. This is refunded within 10 days. All cash refunds are done immediately. The department is functional for 24 hours.
Q. Is there any surcharge on the hospital bills? A. There is no surcharge on the hospital bills.
Q. What are the formalities for Foreign National? A. . The hospital has elaborate set-up to help foreign patients traveling to MH, Bangalore. Detailed information can be obtained on the 'Manipal International Patient Center’.
Q. How will I come to know my billing status or the amount of additional deposit I am required to pay? A. In case of patients admitted in ICU, a provisional bill is given every day. In case of patients admitted in floors, the same is generated once in every two days. The patients can also ask the ward in charge nurse to provide the details. It shall be appreciated, if the same is settled within 24 hours.
Q. After discharge how do I make an appointment for follow up consultation? A. You can book the appointment from the concerned OPD Secretary.
Q. How do I get the Discharge Summary? A. Your discharge summary will be given to you by the concerned Floor Manager.
Q. Where do I collect pending reports of investigations done during admission? A. Pending reports can be collected from the Medical Records Department at the Ground floor Lobby (ext. 3230).
Q. Do you have Emergency charges? A. No emergency charges are applicable.
Q. Can we buy medicines or consumables from outside? A. Our pharmacy provides all the medicines for In-patients.
Q. Do you have Telephone facilities for the patient in the Hospital? A. Yes, charges are @ Rs.5.00 for every 3 minutes. Please contact the floor manager for the direct telephone number of your room. We also have telecommunication centres near Casualty, in main lobby and near the OPD canteen.
